체험·답사·교육 등 ‘K-Heritage Summer School’ … 내년부터 학점 인정 과정으로 정식 운영 예정

  국가유산청 한국전통문화대학교(총장 강경환)는 지난 7월 3일부터 7월 17일까지 한국전통문화대학교 본교(충남 부여군)와 서울교육관(명동 유네스코회관), 경복궁 흥복전 등에서 주한 외국인 유학생들을 대상으로 체험과 이론이 융합된 국가유산 교육 프로그램인 ‘K-Heritage Summer School’을 운영하였다.

한국전통문화대학교는 우리나라의 국가유산에 대해 체계적으로 배우거나 경험할 기회가 많지 않았던 주한 외국인들을 위해 지난해 3월부터 교육과정 개발을 시작해 각국의 주한 대사 등 15개국 46명을 대상으로 한 특강과 설문조사를 거쳐 올해 본격적으로 총 3개의 프로그램으로 이뤄진 ‘K-Heritage 비학위과정’을 개발해 운영을 시작하였다.

앞서, ‘2024 봄 궁중문화축전’(4.27.~5.5.) 기간인 지난 5월 2일 덕수궁 돈덕전과 석조전에서 개최된 첫 번째 프로그램 ‘K-Heritage Day’에는 8개국의 주한 대사들이 참여해 우리나라 국가유산 특강을 듣고, 덕수궁 야간 탐방 프로그램인 ‘밤의 석조전’ 및 건축가와 함께하는 밤의 덕수궁 산책 등을 체험한 바 있다.

두 번째 프로그램으로 진행되는 이번 ‘K-Heritage Summer School’은 전 과정이 한국어로 진행되는 만큼 국내 교육·연구기관에 소속된 유학생 중 한국어능력시험 4급 이상을 획득한 학생들을 대상으로, 서류와 면접 전형을 거쳐 최종적으로 5개 기관(고려대, 서울대, 이화여대, 한국외대, 한국학중앙연구원) 소속 석·박사 과정의 유학생 8명을 선발하였다.

참가자들은 총 2주 동안(7.3.~7.17.) 한국전통문화대학교 서울교육관(명동 유네스코회관)에서의 사전 교육을 시작으로 부여 본교에서의 1박 2일 답사와 각종 특강(한국미술사, 국립부여박물관 답사, 백제 역사 건축 특강 및 왕릉원 답사, 디지털 헤리티지 특강-3차원(3D) 스캐닝 체험, 한산모시짜기 실습 등), 경복궁 흥복전에서의 전통건축미학 강의, 서울교육관에서의 조선시대 양반의 취향과 민속, 경관, 전통 조경 등을 주제로 한 답사·체험·이론 교육 등에 이르기까지 다양한 프로그램에 적극적으로 참여하며 한국의 국가유산을 체험하였다.

한국전통문화대학교는 이번 ‘K-Heritage Summer School’의 운영 성과를 토대로, 내년부터는 학점을 부여하는 정식 계절학기 과정으로 운영할 계획이다. 또한, 올해 하반기(9월 말~11월 말 예정)에는 국내 거주 외교관들과 국제기구 종사자, 학자 등 문화·사회 분야의 글로벌 리더들을 대상으로 ‘K-Heritage 비학위과정’의 세 번째 프로그램인 ‘K-Heritage Leadership Program’을 운영해 한국의 국가유산 교육을 진행할 예정이다.

한국전통문화대학교는 앞으로 ‘K-Heritage 비학위과정’이 주한 외국인을 비롯해 국제무대에서 활동하는 다양한 국민까지 모두 아우르는 대표적인 한국의 국가유산 교육 프로그램으로 거듭날 수 있도록 할 것이다.

The Korea National University of Heritage (President Kang, Kyung-hwan), founded by the Korea Heritage Service, hosted the 'K-Heritage Summer School' from July 3 to July 17. This original heritage education program offered a combination of practical experiences and theoretical education focused on Korean heritage. It was conducted at multiple locations, including the Seoul Education Center of the Korea National University of Heritage (UNESCO House, Myeong-dong), the main campus in Buyeo, and Heungbokjeon Hall in Gyeongbokgung Palace, targeting international students studying in Korea.

Korea National University of Cultural Heritage began developing a quality educational program in March of last year specifically for foreign residents in Korea who have had limited opportunities to systematically learn about or experience the Korean heritage. This initiative, called the "K-Heritage Academy (non-degree Program)," officially launched this year with three curriculums, following special lectures and surveys conducted with 46 participants from 15 countries, including ambassadors residing in Korea.

The first program, "K-Heritage Day," was held on May 2nd at Deoksugung Palace's Dondeokjeon and Seokjojeon during the "2024 K-Royal Culture Festival" (April 27 - May 5). Ambassadors in Korea from eight countries attended, receiving lectures on Korea's national heritage, participating in the night tour program "Night at Seokjojeon," and enjoying a nighttime stroll around Deoksugung Palace with an architect.

The second program, "K-Heritage Summer School," was designed for international students who, despite their high interest in K-culture such as K-Pop and Korean language, had not had many opportunities to systematically experience the heritage underlying K-Culture. The program targets international students affiliated with educational or research institutions in Korea who have passed at least level 4 of the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK). Following a document review and interview process, eight master's and doctoral students from five institutions (the Academy of Korean Studies, Ewha Womans University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Korea University, Seoul National University) were selected to participate.

During the three-week program (July 3 - July 17), participants engaged in a variety of activities, beginning with an orientation at the Seoul Education Center of the university. This included a one-night, two-day field trip to the main campus in Buyeo, various special lectures and visits: such as a lecture on Korean art history, visits to the National Buyeo Museum, Buyeo Royal Tombs, and Baekje Cultural Land, as well as special lectures on digital heritage(3D scanning experience), and theory and practice of Hansan ramie(Hansan moshi) weaving. Science. It also includes lectures on the traditional Korean architectural aesthetics at Heungbokjeon Hall in Gyeongbokgung Palace, and a range of exploration, experiential, and theoretical education activities on topics like the seal engraving, tastes and customs of Joseon Dynasty nobles, folklore, landscapes, and traditional landscaping at the Seoul Education Center.

Based on the successful operation of this year's "K-Heritage Summer School," Korea National University of Heritage plans to offer it as a regular credit-bearing seasonal course starting next year. Additionally, in the latter half of this year (scheduled from late September to late November), the university will run the third program of the "K-Heritage Academy" the "K-Heritage Leadership Program," aimed at diplomats, employees of international organizations, scholars, and other global leaders in the cultural and social fields residing in Korea, to provide high-end education on Korean heritage.
