아세안 10개국 문화유산 관계자들 참여 / 11.10~11. 밀레니엄 힐튼 호텔

  문화재청(청장 최응천)은 11월 10일과 11일 양일간 서울 밀레니엄 힐튼 호텔에서 아세안 10개국의 문화유산 관계자들과 함께 ‘한-아세안 문화유산 협의체(이하 협의체)’ 출범식과 제1차 운영회의를 개최한다.

  지난 2019년 한-아세안 특별문화장관회의와 2020년 제21차 한-아세안 정상회의에서 한국 정부는 아세안의 문화 정체성을 증진하고 지속가능한 발전에 기여하는 한-아세안 문화유산 협력기구를 설립해 문화유산분야에서 체계적으로 협력하자는 제안을 한 바 있다.
이번에 출범하는 협의체는 이에 대한 사전 단계로, 향후 협력기구 설립방향과 주요 안건을 함께 논의하며 한-아세안 문화유산의 매개체로서 내실 있는 협력의 기초를 다지는 창구가 될 것이다.

  10일 오전 개최된 출범식에는 한국과 아세안 10개국, 그리고 아세안사무국 등 24명의 협의체 구성원과 주한아세안대사관 및 아세안 관련 유관기관 등 총 60여명이 참석했다. 최응천 문화재청장의 개회사를 시작으로, 아세안 문화유산 협력의 중요성을 강조하는 김영선 전 인도네시아 대사의 기조 발제, 협의체 운영방안에 대한 문화재청의 발표, 축하 공연 등이 진행됐다.

  출범식과 함께 10일과 11일 양일간 한-아세안 문화유산 협의체 제1차 운영회의도 함께 개최된다.
▲ 한-아세안 문화유산 협력 현황 및 수요분석, ▲ 아세안 국가별 문화유산 보호 현황 발표 및 협력분야 제안, ▲ 문화유산 공동협력 분야 논의 등을 통해 향후 한-아세안 문화유산 협력을 위한 전략적 방향과 중점 추진과제 등을 논의할 예정이다. 또한 문화유산에서 더 나아가 자연유산으로 협력 범위를 점진적으로 확대할 계획이다.

  문화재청은 협의체 운영을 통해 한국과 아세안이 함께하는 문화유산 시범사업을 개발하여 추진하고, 2024년까지 한-아세안 유산협력 전략 수립, 문화 및 자연유산 공동협력 세부사업 개발 등의 활동을 통해 한-아세안 문화유산 협력기구 설립을 위한 기반을 마련할 예정이다.

  The Cultural Heritage Administration (Administrator Choi Eung-chon) is holding the Inauguration ceremony and 1st Working Committee Meeting for the ‘ASEAN-ROK Cultural Heritage Cooperation (hereinafter referred to as ‘Working Committee’)’ at the Millennium Hilton Hotel in Seoul on 10-11 November 2022, in which cultural heritage officials from ten ASEAN member states are expected to participate.
*ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations): An intergovernmental organization of ten countries, consisting of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

  Korean Government, recognizing the importance of cultural heritage, which is a common asset of mankind and a driving force for sustainable development, proposed the establishment of an ASEAN-Korea Heritage Cooperation Organisation at the Special AMCA Plus ROK Meeting in 2019 and the 21st ASEAN-ROK Summit in 2020. The Working Committee is a preliminary step in the establishment of the ASEAN-Korea Cultural Heritage Cooperation Organisation. It will be a platform to discuss the direction and major issues for the establishment of future cooperation organisation between the Republic of Korea and ASEAN member states.

  For the inauguration ceremony, in addition to the 24 members of the Working Committee, which consists of the representatives from the Republic of Korea, ten ASEAN member states, and the ASEAN Secretariat, there will be representatives from the ASEAN embassies in Korea and other ASEAN-related organisations, making the number of participants to 60 people in total. The inauguration ceremony started with an opening speech from the Aministrator, followed by a keynote presentation by the former ROK Ambassador to Indonesia Kim Young-sun, who emphasised the importance of ASEAN-ROK cultural heritage cooperation, and a presentation by the Cultural Heritage Administration on the operation plan of the working committee, etc. 

  Along with the inauguration ceremony, the first Working Committee Meeting for ASEAN-ROK Cultural Heritage Cooperation will take place for two days on 10-11 November. At this meeting, the strategic direction and priority tasks for the ASEAN-ROK cultural heritage cooperation will be discussed and reviewed through the △ ASEAN-ROK cultural heritage cooperation status and demand analysis, △ Presentation of the status of cultural heritage protection and suggestions for cooperation areas by each ASEAN member state, as well as △ ASEAN-ROK cultural heritage joint cooperation area discussions. Additionally, the scope of cooperation will be gradually expanded to include both, cultural and natural heritage.

  The Cultural Heritage Administration hope that the Working Committee Meeting will develop and promote cultural heritage pilot projects between the Republic of Korea and ASEAN so that the cooperation could lead to further practical actions. As a result, it is expected to lay a foundation for the establishment of an ASEAN-Korea Heritage Cooperation Organisation by 2024 by setting a strategy and developing detailed projects for ASEAN-ROK joint cultural and natural heritage cooperation.
